Pembrokeshire Wales
Sorry for the lack of updates recently, I have just spent a glorious fortnight in Pembrokeshire and have finally got to see the Puffins on Skomer Island. I have accumulated approximately 100 new images for the website including a number of new species for me. I am still updating and uploading and its now the 8th July, so here are just a few shots from the trip and hopefully everything will be updated by the weekend.
The Puffins of Skomer
The Corvids were all feeding their young ones
The Fulmars were nesting
I was pleased to get just one shot of the Peregrine which was patrolling the cliffs
I will conclude with some more images from Skomer

Whiteley Pastures
I must confess until this week end I was unaware of the existence of this location, which is embarrassing as it is about 5 miles from home. I found out about it on the internet and it is apparently an excellent butterfly site so as the day was warm and sunny I decided to give it a go and it was well worth the effort. The site is a mixed woodland with a large gravel track running through it and on either side of the track are ditches which are ideal habitat for damsel and dragonflies. It was a lovely walk and I came home with images of five different species, including dragonflies, damselflies and butterflies

Isle of Wight
A week away on the Isle of Wight and my main aim was to photograph the Red Squirrel, which as it turned out proved rather difficult. On the first day I thought my luck was in, I was wandering along the River Yar from Yarmouth towards Freshwater, when I heard a rustling in the coppice alongside the river and was very pleased to see a red Squirrel foraging amongst the leaves, unfortunatley it was too dark and the Squirrel too flighty to get any useable shots. I had two further sightings during the week, once when I was without my camera, there`s a lesson there somewhere! It was now Thursday and I was beginning to give up hope, but I revisited the Yar and was rewarded with another sighting, this time of two Squirrels. The conditions were very difficult, the squirrels were in the tops of the trees under the leaf canopy and the sun was backlighting them, throwing them into silhouette, I got some photographs but I am not very happy with them and will have to revisit sometime.
As well as the squirrels I saw a wealth of other wildlife and these are a few of the images I managed to capture.

Garden
Back in the garden today as our Cherry Tree is just like a kindergarten at the moment, at one point I had baby, Starlings, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Blackbirds and Goldfinches all in the tree at the same time. here is a selection.
My favourite moment was watching this Blue Tit feed her fledgling from this fat ball.

Holly Hill Sarisbury
A very early morning walk rewarded me with views of this young Roe Deer, he was completley aware of my presence and let me get quite close.
