Vilanova near Barcelona, Spain

Towards the end of our stay at Vilanova I heard this bird singing in a tree alongside the caravan, it was a Serin, these birds are rare in Britain and seen mainly on passage, although a few breed irregularly in the south.

Olivia near Valencia, Spain

Next we moved 250 miles down the coast to Olivia near Valencia. The wetlands offered me the chance to photograph Cattle Egrets and also a Willow Warbler. Although I didn`t photograph them I have never seen so many Little Egrets in one place.

Olivia near Valencia, Spain

Near the campsite exist a number of drainage canals which run through orange groves and terminate at the sea, these canals are popular with the wildlife and I watched with facination as flocks of Chiffchaffs hovered and dived in search of insects above the water, I saw upwards of thirty of these birds at one time.
